Accessibility at PetTrust.io
PetTrust.io by LegalDraft Technologies LLC is built to be usable by people with disabilities across the whole planning journey — discovering what a pet trust is, purchasing, creating your documents, and the ongoing GUARDIAN relationship. This page says what we do, what we know isn't perfect yet, and how to reach us when something is hard to use.
Our standard
We engineer to WCAG 2.2 Level AA (the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), maintaining a crosswalk to WCAG 2.1 AA. This statement covers pettrust.io and the pettrustplans.com storefront.
What we actually do
- Semantic HTML and native controls — real buttons, labels tied to their fields, skip links on every page.
- Automated axe-core WCAG 2.2 AA checks run in our release pipeline on every page of the site (including the document builder in a seeded session and the storefront), blocking the release on moderate-or-worse violations.
- Keyboard and visual-adaptation testing in the same pipeline: 400% zoom reflow, text-spacing overrides, forced-colors (high contrast) and reduced-motion checks.
- Accessible document practices: the premium kit PDFs are real, selectable text with labeled fillable fields, and the builder keeps a real-text on-screen copy of your document available after every download.
- A first-party Display settings control on every page (the round accessibility button in the lower-left corner): text and page size up to 150%, higher contrast, more text spacing, a simple font, underlined links, and reduced motion — saved on your device, built on our own code. Your browser and system accessibility settings always work here too.
- No accessibility overlay widgets — ever. Our security policy technically prevents third-party overlay scripts from loading.
- Screen-reader test sessions (NVDA with Chrome, VoiceOver with Safari) are scheduled as part of our audit calendar; their results are recorded release by release.
Known limitations
- Classic packet PDF: the builder's fallback download is a print-format PDF — each page is an image, so screen readers cannot read that specific file. The builder says so at download time and offers the same document as real on-screen text; premium kit PDFs are real text.
- Premium kit PDF structure: kit PDFs are real text with labeled fields, but they are not tagged PDFs, so heading-level navigation inside the file is unavailable. The on-screen document is the fully structured version.
- Checkout: payment happens on Square's hosted checkout page, which is operated by Square, Inc. under its own accessibility program.
- Brand film: the film at /film.html is a visual experience with narration; a full text transcript is provided on the page, and playback includes keyboard controls and a mute toggle.
- Assistive-technology sessions: named screen-reader runs and testing with disabled users are in progress on our audit calendar and are not yet complete; until they are, our confidence comes from the automated and keyboard evidence above.
Tell us what's hard to use
If any part of PetTrust.io is difficult for you, we want to know — we read every report. You never need to tell us anything about your disability or health; just describe what got in the way.
You can also email support@pettrust.io. We aim to respond to accessibility reports within 2 business days and to ship a fix or a working alternative as fast as the issue warrants.
Compatibility
PetTrust.io is built for current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on desktop and mobile, with no minimum screen size — the layout reflows to 320px-wide viewports and honors your zoom, text-spacing, contrast, and reduced-motion preferences.
